Lake Mono in California can be found very close by to Lake Tahoe. However, Lake Mono, despite its beauty, has been cut off from its crucial resources, and has now become quite toxic due to high levels of carbonates and other toxic material. So unlike Lake Tahoe, Mono Lake is not the best option for swimmers.
