Finally, Sergeant Maroney would have his opportunity to thank the girl. Maroney was totally emotional when his eyes landed on LeShay. He was having difficulty expressing his emotions but he tried to let her know how much impact she had on him. He told her, “Your hug, it helped me through hard days and rough days. You rescued me more than I rescued you.”

A Tearful Reunion
The two finally found each other again, ten years later. They shared a hug, both unable to keep their eyes dry. In an interview, Maroney said, “If not for her hug and her smile on that day, my life would probably be a lot different.” He was incredibly grateful for the efforts made by the TV show producers to reunite the two. It’s clear that the reunion meant a lot to him.
