The host told the audience the whole story and consulted Maroney several times before the two would finally meet again. They told everyone that Maroney was completely unaware that there was a photographer snapping away the minute that LeShay embraced him. Perhaps that’s the reason why their emotions were so genuine in the photo. When LeShay was asked to go up on stage, everyone could not peel their eyes away from the scene unraveling before them.

LeShay was not used to being under the spotlight and it was her first time appearing in front of the cameras. She was all grown up. She was first introduced to the two hosts and hugged them. She then walked towards Maroney after that. Maroney had been waiting for this moment for a long time by now. LeShay might look different from the little girl in the photograph, but she proved that she was the same girl when she asked Maroney a single question: “can I give you a hug?”
