If you’re wondering about the origin of the show’s iconic charter boat, you might find this one amusing. Sherwood Schwartz, sitcom’s creator, had a dislike for the head of FCC, Newton Minnow. He named the boat S.S. Minnow, and as a joke, it was shipwrecked! It is quite unfortunate that we are still unsure if Newton caught on the joke.
