Influencing His Character
Skipper was a character brought to life by Alan Hale Jr. who was known to have a vocal tic; he referred to people as “little buddy”. The show’s staff decided to apply this same habit to his character. And it seemed so natural for Skipper to call people “little buddy” as well!

The main star of the show, Bob Denver, was known to be an advocate of equality. When the credits of the show had excluded the names of Dawn Wells and Russell Johnson, Denver was so upset and wouldn’t let the issue go until the staff change it.
