Broadway
In 2001, Selleck played the lead of Murray in the Broadway revival of A Thousand Clowns, Herb Gardner’s comedic play. Critics were totally negative when it came to his performance, many believed the original actor from the 60’s was far better, Jason Robards, Jr. However Gardner, the playwright, stepped up and said he actually prefers Selleck’s portrayal over Robards, stating that “Selleck was the way he had always envisioned Murray.”
Changes
Jesse Stone is a a transplanted lawman that Selleck has been portraying since 2005 in a series of made-for-TV movies, which are based on Robert B. Parker’s novels. Currently there are nine films and Selleck recently began to produce episodes. In fact film five, Jesse Stone: Thin Ice, was not an adaptation of the novels but rather an original story that Selleck created.
