Tom was later sued by the Calleguas Municipal Water Districts in 2015. A private investigator on the issue said that he had sent the truck 12 times to get water from the said district over a two year period. Moreover Selleck had previously been issued a cease and desist order but he ignored it.

Tom eventually paid $21,000 as a settlement for the alleged misconduct. He has never openly admitted that he did what he was accused of. However the evidence all seems to point to the obvious. The agency is said to have paid $22,000 to the private investigator so his settlement fee just about covers that.
