Imagine that you’re strolling through the woods and enjoying the peace and tranquility of nature only to walk into a clearing and see an airplane! You probably think first that it might have crashed or something, but if you’re in Hillsboro, Oregon, you’re at Bruce Campbell’s dwelling. Of course, almost anything can be turned into a house, such as cars, boats, and more, but an airplane is quite a new idea. Clearly, Bruce took on an insurmountable task to convert a plane into a home. You’ve got to be really talented to figure out how to create the spaces (functional bathroom, kitchen, etc.) and all of the legal issues!

A Creative Vision

Bruce Campbell is a retired electrical engineer and is 64 years old. He was always creative and innovative, which allowed him to see behind what things were used for and how they might be used differently. This all started when he bought 10 acres of land in the forests of Hillsboro in his 20s for a mere $23,000.

From Childhood

Since he was a child, Bruce enjoyed playing with discarded things and turning them into something new. Initially, he bought the Hillsboro land to renovate freights vans and turn them into a house. Then, he heard about someone who had built something else entirely as a home.
