Helen Mirren actually began acting on stage before she made her Hollywood debut. Impressively, she performed with the Royal Shakespeare Company for quite some time. Her seamless transition from Shakespearean works to films is a true testament to her talent. When she started acting for the big screen, it didn’t take long before viewers noticed her. Annette Bening is yet another theater actress who eventually moved onto film. She actually studied theater while attending university and began working with the Colorado Shakespeare Festival Company in 1980. During this time, she worked on productions of Macbeth and Pygmalion. Her first onscreen work was for the film Manhunt for Claude Dallas… little did she know, the minor role would jump-start her career! When the 90’s started, she also starred in American Beauty for which she received several award nominations.
