Dawn Wells, playing the role of Mary Ann, knew she had to stand out especially if she were to stand next to Tina Louise, who played Ginger. She made up for her shorter height by displaying more skin. She ended up wearing short shorts at a period where navels were prohibited to be displayed on television. Though she would hide her navel, her outfits were still flashy to the public. After all, she’s the first person to have ever worn short shorts on TV!

Since it is already more than 50 years after the show’s pilot episode, most of the cast members have passed away. Even the show’s creator, Sherwood Schwartz, passed away in 2011. The only cast members that we can still see now are Tina Louise and Dawn Wells, who are in their 70s or 80s. And of course, we want these lovely women to stick around much longer.
