Everyone apart from the goofy Gilligan was supposed to stand in for different segments of American society. That’s why they were called by their profession and not their name. Yup, that’s exactly how each character represented someone in that part of society.

EVERYONE knows Dawn Wells best as Gilligan’s Island‘s Mary Ann. That’s probably why she titled her memoir, What Would Mary Ann Do?. Throughout the book, there are self-help sections but also a lot of stories about her experiences on set. Oh, the book is actually written from Mary Ann’s point of view.
