Have you ever wondered what Gilligan’s first name was and why it wasn’t mentioned in the sitcom? It was only after the last episode that Sherwood Schwartz announced that his first name was actually Willie. In the original film, the character was drawn out as Willy Gilligan. However, Denver firmly believed that Gilligan was the character’s first name. And he was stubborn about it, too. He didn’t want to have a discussion about it at all!
