As the series progressed, Florence Henderson would pester producers to allow Carol Brady to enter the workforce. Henderson felt that this would then align with how she actually is in real life. The producers didn’t agree and they kept Carol unemployed, although she did participate in volunteer work.

Turns out that the role of Mike Brady could have gone to Jeffrey Hunter as he urged Sherwood Schwartz to give him the role numerous times. However the network felt that Hunter was simply “too handsome” for the part so they gave it to Robert Reed.
