The producers made the choice to introduce a new family, the Kelly’s, during The Brady Bunch final season. There was even a whole episode devoted to the Kelly’s. Producers hoped the new family would turn into a spin-off but that didn’t take off and the show about Kelly’s wasn’t picked up.

The producers had a different strategy in mind when they did the show’s casting. They first picked the six children before the parents, Carol and Mike Brady. It might be unusual, but it still worked out in the end.
