Despite the fact that Taylor Swift has already broken numerous records throughout her impressive career, her newest upcoming album, called Lover, has broken a record — even before its release! That’s a serious feat for any musician, but we’re sure Taylor is already used to this kind of thing.
Taylor’s newest album, which is set to be released later this year broke Apple Music’s record for the most pre-adds worldwide on the platform by any female recording artist ever. The number is currently at 222,400 pre-adds and is still growing! Of that total, 178,600 were pre-added on the first day of availability alone! That’s seriously impressive.
The previous record holder of the same category is Ariana Grande, whose previous album Thank U, Next earned her the title before Taylor surpassed her.
Lover also holds another record for most pre-added pop album worldwide in its first day of being available. That’s an amazing accomplishment for a record that hasn’t been released yet.
In order to help promote her forthcoming album, Taylor’s already released her latest music video called “You Need To Calm Down,” which is the second single released from this new album. The video is an LGBTQ+ friendly visual that features tons of recognizable faces ranging from Ellen Degeneres, Netflix’s Queer Eye cast, Laverne Cox, Adam Lambert, and even Katy Perry, with whom Swift has had a history of issues with.
