Promenade des Anglais
The English Promenade, as it’s called in English, is a wonderful place to start. It was given its name because it was historically a favorite place for English people to visit during the winter. The 7-kilometer in length promenade starts at La colline du Chateau and stretches all the way to the Nice airport. You will pass through the Jardin 1er and also the Palais de la Mediterranee. Rent a bike and go the whole way!
Old Town of Nice
The old town of Nice offers delightful charm with its colorful facades, alleyways, and Mediterranean shutters. Make sure to check out the Cours Saleya, the famous market and flour market that is held every morning except Monday. Make sure you also check out the Place du Palaid de Justice, Place Rossetti, and Place Saint Francois.
Enjoy Local Foods
Local Nicoise cuisine is absolutely fantastic and is a point of pride for locals. Here are some things you should try: socca is a chickpea flour crepe that is slightly creamy inside. You have to try the classic Nicoise salad, which features tuna, tomatoes, hard boiled eggs, anchovies, olives, and delicious olive oil vinaigrette.
Nice Russian Orthodox Cathedral
This historical monument is the most important Orthodox religious building that’s outside of Russia. Apart from that fact, even for those who are not Russian Orthodox, the building is absolutely stunning to take in. The inside of the cathedral is also impressive. You can easily walk to the cathedral or take bus number 8.
Nice Castle Hill
Known in French as le parc de la Colline du Chateau is located on the hill that overlooks the old town. From there, you can take in stunning views of the city, mountains, harbor, and Bay of Angels. The top of the castle can be reached by foot, but there is also an elevator. Throughout the whole area there are endless beautiful sights to experience.
